Clean Grout Floor Tiles

DO A PATCH TEST WITH ANY METHOD YOU CHOOSE SO THE EFFECT CAN BE SEEN ON A SMALL REMOTE AREA BEFORE COMMITTING TO A METHOD.

USUALLY A NATURAL STONE CLEANER IS RECOMMENDED HOWEVER, THESE NATURAL CHEMICALS SHOULD NOT HURT YOUR STONE. DO NOT USE steel or wire brushes that will break grout.

Don’t make more than you need these natural chemicals loose strength quickly.

Method’s:

Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, Dish Soap

Combine a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide, one tablespoon dish washing soap and three quarters of a cup of baking soda.Use a nylon bristled brush to place paste on grout lines.
Let it absorb for 15 minutes there will be bubbling reaction.
Rinse with hot water, mop and use cloth to dry and complete cleaning grout lines to remove excess moisture and any residual dirt. Repeat this step as needed with fresh water and a clean mop and cloth. Grout is cleaned by the abrasive qualities of the baking soda additionally, baking soda combined with the hydrogen peroxide produces bleaching oxygen ions. Dish liquid breaks up stubborn grease.

Baking Soda and Vinegar

Vinegar will etch and cause damage Baking Soda and Vinegar method should NOT be used on natural stone.

Ph. neutral solutions only.

Combine three parts of baking soda with one-part water making a thick paste.
This method will not affect any grout color, however, vinegar should not be used on travertine, marble, natural stone or limestone.

It will etch and cause damage to the stone.
Make sure you’re wearing rubber gloves and apply to grout lines with fingers.
Create a fifty fifty solutions (one-part white vinegar and one-part water) in a spray bottle.
Then spray the solution on the paste applied to the grout previously.
There will be bubbling, give it a few minutes to stop then scrub the grout lines with a tooth brush or nylon brush.
Finally mop with plain water to remove residue repeat with fresh water as needed, until all residue has been removed.

Clean Grout with Steam Cleaner
No chemicals needed the effect is sanitizing and great on all types of tiles.
Steam cleaners can be purchased or rented at various home improvement stores like Home Depot etc.
Ensure that steam hose and small brush attachment comes with the unit.
Read directions on use and assembly to avoid damage. Fill according to directions no soaps or chemicals should be added.
Turn on the machine so it can heat up. Please check the manual it will tell you how long you should wait before use.
Move the brushes back and forth as you would a vacuum over the floor.
The heat and steam will kill bacteria and remove dirt/mildew.
Mop, dry extra dampness and moisture from the floor after steaming. The steam will condense into water so be careful.
This method will remove all grout sealant. If the steam clean method is used, be prepared to reseal your grout.

Sealing after cleaning will allow the tile to stay clean longer.

Cleaning with Oxygenated Bleach
Use two tablespoons of oxygenated bleach in two cups of heated water.
Combine completely so the bleach is dissolved and active.
Make the solution when you’re actually ready to use it.
Pour onto grout fully covering the lines. Repeat in sections to avoid a completely wet floor.
Dip a Nylon Bristle brush in oxygenated bleach powder and scrub in solution for a few minutes.
(Don’t allow water particles in the main container separate some oxygen bleach powder for dipping).
Pour just water on the floor then dry with clean mop.

Grout color maybe damaged however, this method is gentle enough for use on all variations of tile.
